SUMMARY:Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2018/2019 + Guest Speaker on Tips and tricks for NDIS Registration
DESCRIPTION:SPOT on DD will be holding an AGM for all members to attend on Tuesday 30 July\, 7pm. \nWe are excited to announce our guest speaker for our AGM\, Chantelle Robards. Chantelle will be sharing her experience of registering with the NDIA\, the process involved and some tips for working within the NDIS space. \nChantelle Robards is a speech pathologist who has worked with people with disabilities for many years across the public\, private and not for profit sector. Chantelle has extensive experience with high end AAC and technology\, as well as dysphagia management. She has published research and present her work at conferences and forums across NSW. She is an enthusiastic advocate and driver for change within the NDIS through her work with the Council for Intellectual Disability\, disability community of practice and her consultancy business. Chantelle’s current role is providing business support to people wanting to work within the NDIS. For more information\, visit her website simplewarrior.com.au. \nCentro ASSIST will also be providing information on the NDIS audit process\, as well as a product display and trial. For further information and webinars\, visit their website at www.centroassist.com.au. \nRegistrations for this event are through Eventbrite\, click\, on link below. \nPlease note this event is for current members only. This event will be livestreamed\, so if you would like to receive this link please register and send an email to secretary@spotondd.org.au. \nFurther details regarding the AGM \nAgenda \n\nWelcome and Apologies\nConfirmation of previous minutes\nPresident’s report\nTreasurer’s report\nNominations for executive committee\n\nPresident\nVice president\nSecretary\nTreasurer\nGeneral executive committee members\n\n\nOther business arising\n\nChange of name*\n\n\nClose of meeting\n\n*Proposal to change the name of SPOTonDD to DisabilitySPOT: \nAt the time SPOTonDD was established\, over 20 years ago\, the term developmental disability was considered appropriate. IN recent years the term developmental disability has become outdated with advent of new funding programs and an emphasis on person centred language. The term developmental disability is used to describe a large group of people and the use of more specific terms are encouraged. The term developmental can be misleading in that it can imply changes to the diagnosis when in fact these are often lifelong conditions\, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Cerebral Palsy. Members of SPOTonDD tend to work across the lifespan with children\, young adults and adults\, hence the term developmental disability is not appropriate when applied to all of these groups of people. Hence the committee propose that the name is changed to DisabilitySPOT. The term disability is more accurate when applied to a large group of people and we aim to be a ‘spot’ where speech therapists\, occupational therapists and physiotherapists amongst others can come to learn about disability. The change of name supports our organisation in maintaining currency and demonstrating respect to all people. \nIf you have any questions or comments regarding this event or the change of name\, please don’t hesitate to get in touch\, we are\, after all\, here for you our members.  \nSimilarly\, we are always looking for members to join our executive team and share the load\, so please considering joining us! Further details to come including voting via proxy. \n
